You Can’t Be Anyone Else’s with Violette’s ‘Mine’

By Linc Bradham

Baltimore’s newest up-and-coming pop star has come to our attention – Violette. She is getting ready to release her sophomore EP, “In Her Beauty Lies My Death and My Life,” and each single leading up to this upcoming release has been better than the last.

Violette is not new to the scene, having fronted a Baltimore-based alt-rock band in the past, but is now ready to begin her own solo career, and what a wonderful joy it is to see her blossoming into her own. A veritable technical expert over her voice, Violette has all the makings of success, bringing a force that is as bold and brave as it is alluring and enchanting.

She has cultivated an inspired, anthemic sound that captures a rare balance of daring fearlessness and refined sensibility, savoring strongly of a woman of perceptiveness who has much to say, and a world that is eager to listen.

In reference to her most recent single, “Mine,” Violette says, “I wrote ‘Mine’ during a period of writer’s block a few years ago, before I finished my first EP, ‘When I Lose My Head.’” It started as more of a folk song, just voice and an acoustic guitar. I really wanted to tell a story about obsession getting out of hand and I think the finished version explodes with the narrative perfectly.”

The final product has evolved into something truly special, with guitars, drums, pads, and a production that would make some of the greatest pop artists of today smile with appreciation and turn green with envy all at the same time. Listen to “Mine” here, and be ready to see Violette continue to carve her own path towards musical fulfillment and success.
