Watch Diavion Dance to St. South’s new track, “RED”

St. South is the moniker for Australian singer-songwriter-producer-multi-instrumentalist Olivia Gavranich. She self-released her debut EP Nervous Energy in 2016, which garnered millions of streams, as well as TV placements with The Vampire Diaries and The Fosters. She followed that up with 2017’s Inure and is currently working on new music. Without any outside support and no touring history, St. South has already built a steady and dedicated fanbase, with over 23,000 fans across social properties and almost 400,000 monthly listeners at Spotify alone.

As a songwriter, singer, self-taught producer and multi-instrumentalist, St. South has worked tirelessly on the skills required to make the kind of nuanced and soulful electro she’s known for.  Get Well Soon unfolds a story of grief, heartbreak and ultimately, self-love.

She recently released her anticipated debut album Get Well Soon, and today she shares a new music video for stand-out track “RED.” St. South says about “RED,” “Sometimes people we love don’t treat us how we hope they will. Sometimes we accept their love due to lack of love for ourselves. ‘RED’ is about realizing this very sentiment and mustering the strength to walk away from someone who doesn’t treat you how you deserve to be treated.” As we listened to the track we felt a calming, yet enticing feeling, and it made us want more. We truly loved the vocals, and the production calmed it well.  The music video features new style hip-hop dancer Diavion with his interpretation of the track. It was an incredibly unique video, and one of our favorites as of recent.  Watch + share the video below.

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
