DC’s own singer, songwriter, performer, and fashion icon, Ting Lin releases the summer jam that you did not even know you needed. “Dream Chaser” is an entirely Cantonese Electronic Dance single and is the perfect song to dance along to with your friends at a party. It is about remembering the good, bad, joyful, and sad memories, chasing after your dreams,enjoying the journey, going with the flow, and carrying on. It celebrates life’s ups and downs and serves as a reminder to be proud of what you have accomplished. Dedicated to the AAPI community (especially those who left their hometowns in order to find better opportunities for themselves and loved ones), this track shares her Chinese culture and native tongue with the world. Ting Lin states that while it is all in Cantonese, true Americans may not need a translation to understand and feel connected to the song. (There is one if needed.)
According to the lyrical translation, she is looking at old photographs, thinking about the memories like the smell of food and going on walks, and dreaming of her hometown, hoping the scenery has not changed. The electrifying chorus is about seizing rare opportunities, starting fresh, and taking the time to change and grow.
