The Alchemist
Having been songwriting since he was a teenager in the late ’80s, Dolph Chaney is no stranger to recording and releasing music that is close to his heart in the middle of trying times. Little did he imagine that his April 2020 album release, Rebuilding Permit, would be facing the shared difficulty of COVID-19, which has been having a dramatic effect on artists and musicians from all over the world. Chaney embraced the opportunities available to him, one of these being the opportunity to work with Nick Bertling (with roots as a Baltimore drummer) of Bertling Noise Laboratories to produce for Chaney. The first time Chaney has felt compelled to share these responsibilities resulted in a true collaboration as the two sifted through more than fifty songs from Chaney’s back catalog and produced and recorded thirteen of those tracks in their home studios. The outcome is the modern sounding authentic and personal album, This is Dolph Chaney, availlable now on all major platforms with the lead single, “Now I Am A Man.”
