The Jazz Academy of Music Presents the 14th Annual Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival

Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 19, 2023
Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival

Hilton Hotel
Rockville, MD

The 14th Annual Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival is coming up – February 17-19, 2023 – held at the Hilton Hotel Rockville.

A wide variety of jazz music will be performed simultaneously on four different stages throughout the weekend, utilizing the Ronnie Wells Main Stage, Oval Stage, MAJF Club Stage, and free Atrium stage. Performers include: the Julieta Eugenio Trio, the Joe Locke Group feat. Kenny Washington, the Jazz Academy Orchestra, Fran Vielma, and the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival’s Tribute to Roy Hargrove.

Attendees travel to the festival from points all along the Mid-Atlantic seaboard and beyond. It showcases regional and touring jazz artists of traditional jazz genres. Also showcased are the gospel and blues genres that are primary influences of jazz music, as well as contemporary jazz.

The three-day festival occurs every year over President’s Day weekend hosted by The Jazz Academy of Music, “a 501c3, non-profit organization whose mission is to advance and preserve jazz music through education and outreach.” They also offer masterclasses, live interviews with the performing artist, line and swing dancing, panels, and jam sessions that are free and open to the public at the festival. There is also a live high school band competition. Visit the Jazz Academy website at jazzacademy.org  for more information.

This unique celebration of local jazz music is definitely one that shouldn’t be missed! Purchase tickets and find more information about this year’s festival, including performers, schedule, stages, and map, here.
