The Challenger Disaster Conspiracy Channel Twin Peaks for Debut Single

The Minneapolis metal veterans who make up the new band, The Challenger Disaster Conspiracy, lean into their punk side with their debut single “Something’s Wrong with Dougie” from their debut self-titled EP. Inspired by the recent Reboot of Twin Peaks (The Return), the band captures the quirky, yet unsettling vibes that the show is known for albeit with an electric twist.

Musically, this is where the high-octane energy of punk meets old-school blues story telling. It’s funny in its absurdity, but the straight-faced delivery raises the stakes of letting it pass you by without really catching what they’re saying. It’s also sure to melt your face off with its off-kilter rhythms and bombastic sense of drive. Mr. Jackpot gives us a lot to feel and think about as he throws us into the primordial mosh pit.

As the leading single off their soon-to-be-released EP, it is the beginning of a weird tale of their own concoction where a fictional Tom Waits grows up as a skateboarder in Orange County in the early 90’s. A speculative, weird, but possibly engrossing concept that will explore lyrical themes of “maintaining vocational relevance” and the “normalness of yelling at sportswriters on Twitter”.

“Something’s Wrong With Dougie” is available on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and BandCamp. Find this and more great music on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Spotify playlist.
