Teen Mortgage Call For Action in New Single “Tuning In”

Washington DC-based grunge band Teen Mortgage is back with another grunge-rock record: “Tuning In.” The single asks its listeners to ignore the messages of large corporations and start relying on their own thoughts.

Debuting in 2017, the duo opened for notable bands such as Ron Gallo, Surf Curse, Big Business, Alex Lahey, The Chats, Bass Drum of Death, JEFF The Brotherhood, Mike Krol, and The Coathangers. Their 2019 EP “Life/Death” gained recognition as recipients multiple 2020 Wammies (The Washington Area Music Awards) for Best Punk Band and Best Punk Song for “Falling Down.”

“Tuning In” is a low-key but still head-banging punk-rock tune; with its driving bass and impressive production, the single uses its messaging to tell audiences to think for themselves, rather than listen to the few powerful people that control our media.

“Tuning In” is a call for action to stop engaging with traditional TV / printed news,” wrote the band. “A small handful of corporations own most media outlets. These corporations use all media platforms to manufacture public consent. With the public’s consent, they continue to make profit without being held accountable for their crimes. They also use these platforms to further a culture war between the people in the working class. This is in order to distract them from the real problem in their lives – the American oligarchy.”

Fans of the Misfits, The Ramones, The Spits, and Wavves should check out “Tuning In” by Teen Mortgage, available on major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube. The “Tuning In” music video is also available now on YouTube. Find this and more excellent music on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify and YouTube.
