She calls herself “a cynical brown girl making experimental r&b,” but we have trouble hearing the cynicism on Sunstoney’s debut album, In Your Apartment. We do hear a self-produced artist and vocalist from Virginia wearing her vulnerability on her sleeve for everyone to hear. With elements of Lo-fi, Soul, and R&B, there is a little something for everyone. We definitely connected with her lead single, “Astral Plane,” and we think you will too.
