Strutman Lane Does More Than Just “Try”

The rising star that is Strutman Lane rises a little higher with the release of their latest single, “Try”. Known for their infectious and funky grooves rooted in pop-rock and adult contemporary, “Try” puts a mellow spin on the band’s typically more uptempo vibes. However, the song’s message of ‘giving it your best’ is effectively conveyed through the band’s use of sonic space. Jack Johnson would be proud of the laid-back brushed drums, smooth sax, and acoustic guitar that set the thoughtful tone for vocalist Adam Landa at the onset of the song. “Try” accelerates as the song progresses giving the electric piano a little more screen time while the drum and bass increase in playfulness.

Appearing on Strutman Lane’s forthcoming EP, The Bedroom Sessions, “Try” follows previously released singles “Steam Engine”, “Our Love”, and “TV” from earlier this year. The band has been releasing new music since the start of the year while hinting that a larger body of work has been underway.  “With songs ranging from hard-hitting road trip bangers to reflective soul ballads best enjoyed over your morning cup of coffee, The Bedroom Sessions has something for everyone,” says Landa. Thankfully, fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer!

Strutman Lane came together at the University of Maryland through a jazz program. Their mutual love of funk and pop came together to breathe sensuality into new original music. The Washington D.C. area act released 2021 debut single, “I Want You To Know” and listeners immediately began gravitating toward the group’s hooky rhythms and warm vocals following in the tradition of funk/pop artists like Lawrence, Vulfpeck, and Couch.
