World-renowned, multilingual, and multinational vocalist Elin Melgarejo is celebrating her 50th birthday at Bossa Bistro & Lounge in Adams Morgan on Sunday, March 19!

Based in the DMV since 2011, Melgarejo spent 11 years in NYC playing at legendary jazz clubs Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola (Jazz at Lincoln Center), etc, and touring the world. This performance will feature her signature Brazilian repertoire, as well as originals and more, featuring a stellar band of top local instrumentalists: Dani Cortaza (guitar), Didier Prossaird (keys), Steve Sachse (bass), Todd Harrison (drums) + many musicians & singers sitting in all night long!
Melgarejo’s debut album Lazy Afternoon blends originals with American jazz and the sounds of Brazil. Her collaborations with Thievery Corporation, such as “PARA SEMPRE” and “Lose to Find”, can be found on all music platforms, and she’s currently in the studio finishing up her next album, a tribute to Elis Regina. On Jan. 22, she performed at D.C.’s Blues Alley for an Elis Regina Tribute show. She is a local gem that remains humble and grateful.
Make sure to pre-purchase your tickets to avoid a line! Eventbrite ticket holders will be on a list at the door with their own line to get in quicker. Free food + drink specials will be served from 6-7pm or until it runs out, and there will be live music from 7:30-9:30 PM. It is sure to be a fun celebration to bring together the community with tons of great local musicians!
