Shoshan Dunamis Impresses with New Music in 2022

By Daniel Warren Hill

It is amazing how a simple phrase like “Impress Me” can say so much in context. One of the impressive things about Shoshan Dunamis is how as a lyricist she can place the listener in so many of those contexts. This latest single, available now on all platforms, first tells listeners about the ways the song’s subject is already on the track, singing, “I’m inspired by the fire you have put in me.” Then, just as quickly, she switches gears to say “He has a hold on me,” which could hint that it could be a lover she is speaking of before later saying, “as a child of yours I’m on fire,” which might be hinting at a higher power. All the while, without asking for it, Dunamis inspires you toward the notion that if you are not impressive, you could be.

Singing on stage since six years old, Shoshan Dunamis has worked as a studio singer and songwriter for various labels, artists, producers, and DJs since 2009. Since 2019 she has published her works under the stage name “Shoshan Dunamis,” having released music under another nomenclature before then. “Call Me,” released earlier this year, combined with “Impress Me” are good indications that Electropop fans can expect a lot more from Dunamis later this year. Her soul-influenced vocals are expertly and uniquely delivered on a well-blended mix of drum and bass-heavy productions highlighting a combination of soundscapes with familiar feeling synths. Check out “Impress Me” below, or find it on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify, and see if you aren’t impressed.
