Are you ready for a night of non-stop jazz euphoria? On January 13th, at 7:30 PM, the Frank Arts Center Theater will be hosting a spellbinding performance by the Shepherd Jazz Ensemble, led by the incredible Dr. Kurtis Adams, head of the School of Music. But that’s not all! Pianist, vocalist, and composer Amy K Bormet will be gracing the Frank Arts Center Theater as a special guest artist.

Amy is known for her fearless, free-wheeling style and her dedication to creating new music. She is the mastermind behind the Washington Women in Jazz Festival, a celebration of women musicians that she started in 2011. Amy is not only a performer but also a teaching artist, collaborating with the Kennedy Center’s new addition, the REACH, to present and perform with her all-woman trio “the future of jazz is female” for middle school students. Additionally, she serves as a mentor and teacher at the summer program for the Washington Jazz Arts Institute. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in jazz studies, piano performance from the University of Michigan and a Master of Fine Arts in jazz studies from Howard University, her credentials speak for themselves.

The Shepherd University Jazz Ensemble is no stranger to the stage. They have performed throughout the East Coast and Europe, including at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Longwood, Blue Ridge, and East Coast Jazz festivals in the United States, as well as in regional festivals throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. They are true jazz virtuosos, and you do not want to miss this rare opportunity to see them perform live!

Mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable night of jazz that you won’t want to miss.

General admission tickets to the concert are $15; $10 for Shepherd faculty, staff, alumni, senior citizens, active-duty military, and students aged 18 and under; and free for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID.
