Say “Good Morning Gorgeous” with Mary J. Blige and H.E.R.

By Maura Marcellino

Grammy award winning and Academy award nominated artist, actress and producer Mary J. Blige dropped a new remix featuring another Grammy award winning artist, H.E.R., for her celebrated title track off her new studio album, GOOD MORNING GORGEOUS, in which H.E.R co-wrote and co-produced the titular track.

Since its release, “Good Morning Gorgeous” has continued to climb the radio charts, peaking at #1 for its 5th week on R&B. The album was released in February just before her historic performance at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. (Be sure to check out our coverage for the original with Cynthia Gross here)

I wake up еvery morning and tell myself

Good morning, gorgeous

Sometimes you gotta look in the mirror and say

Good morning, gorgeous

No one else could make me feel this way, yeah

This empowering song serves as a wake-up anthem perfect for setting it as your alarm or to listen to while getting ready for the day. On a personal note, as a young autistic woman working in the music industry, it can be difficult to feel gorgeous. This very chill and smooth anthem is about creating your own happiness. Only you can control your happiness, not anybody else.

“Good Morning Gorgeous” has been used by fans on TikTok to express and promote self-love, self-empowerment, and self-care. A compilation of select videos can be viewed here.

Not only can you listen to the song, but you can shop the boutique section for some accessories, pillows, journals, and even stickers to put on your mirror to be one of the first things you see as you look at your beautiful self here.

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
