Patrick Mc Eleney - "Go for It"

Irish indie pop/rock artist Patrick McEleney has just released “Go for It” and its accompanying lyric video; the track is a single from his upcoming debut EP Only Time Will Tell.

Mc Eleney started gathering material for “Go For It” over ten years ago to encapsulate the frustration of not being able to live his dream. The lyrics express this frustration, as Mc Eleney includes lines like, “In the middle of the night, I can barely fight the / Urge to run through the streets / In the morning light, I’ve been running all night / What a really sad state I’m in”. In the chorus he repeats, “Will I just go. / Just go for it. / Oh what do I say? / Oh I don’t know,” reflecting this contemplation of pursuing what he wants.

Fans of Tom Odell and Ben Howard will especially find familiarity in Mc Eleney’s gentle vocal delivery, as you can hear the rawness and passion in his voice.

“With the passage of time I can now live my dream by taking on creative projects such as this one and this song has become an internal anthem for me, a reminder to keep creating things despite how much I might doubt myself,” Mc Eleney says.

The video includes simple, yet impactful aesthetic animations, illustrating a restless man’s night whose experiences match up with the sing-along lyrics displayed at the bottom. It also includes colorful snippets of “Go for It”’s recording session – Mc Eleney on guitar, vocals, piano, bass, and synth, Ben McAuley on drums, and cello performed by Dermot Clenihan (the strings really make the song come alive).

The single was produced and mixed by Rocky O’Reilly at Start Together Studios, Belfast and mastered by Robin Schmidt at 24-96 Mastering.
