Paternal Wisedom in Keith Monacchio’s New Album ‘Under A Nightlight Sky’

By Charlie Maybee

New Jersey based Indie folk musician Keith Monacchio has returned with a new album Under A Midnight Sky led by the pulsing single “Something Good To Believe In”. Driven by strumming guitars and melodic piano, it’s just the feel-good song to ignite your soul.

There is something distinctly Americana about this song, – the piano part is reminiscent of a “Piano Man” by Billy Joel if it had just a little more bite to it, while the guitar feels like Harry Chapin’s “Cats in the Cradle” sailing on open waters. It’s vast and swells beautifully like the ocean with an encouraging uplift in the lyrics that is easy to get swept away by. It feels larger than life, full of hopes, potential, and dreams as he sings, “Looking for a new kind of wisdom / something good to believe in”

As Monacchio’s fifth solo album to date, this is a strong effort that feels full-fledged and wise. Finding moments of positivity and light in a moment of historic darkness is a challenging feat, but he manages something wonderful despite it that lands the listener in a state of calm solace. Spanning a range of themes like family, fatherhood, political tribalism, aging, and hope it’s an album that is full of paternal life lessons.

“Something Good To Believe In” and Under A Midnight Sky is available on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, BandCamp, YouTube, Amazon TIDAL, Tik Tok, Pandora, and Google Play, or find it on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture Playlist on Spotify
