Brooklyn-based artist Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts has released their new single “Vertigo Green.” The band’s frontman, singer-songwriter and musician Colton Tracy, originates from northwest Montana and continues to write music inspired by his hometown.

“Vertigo Green” is a true rock song in nature. Many 90s rock influences emanate and come through Tracy’s new single. The driving electric guitar and movable beats are characteristic and reminiscent of The Black Keys’ “Lonely Boy.” The track’s production and Tracy’s radio-like voice emphasize the nostalgic sounds of the 90s.

Symbolism abounds in the lyrics of “Vertigo Green” to intriguing effect. “I look over my shoulder / So I can see / All that is taking over / Following me,” Tracy sings in the opening lines of the track.

“Vertigo Green” marks the third single from Tracy, along with his 2020 album, Departures. “The Writing up on the Wall,” Tracy’s last single, is emblematic of Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts’ sound, with electric guitars and fun melodies; that track featured drums by Tracy’s good friend and fellow musician, David Baldwin.

Fans of The Black Keys, The Killers, Band of Skulls, and The White Stripes should listen to Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts’ “Vertigo Green.”

The single is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Soundcloud. Follow our Alchemical Weekly Spotify Playlist for more great music featured on the site.
