Langhorne, Pennsylvania based rock band, Nothing but a Nightmare, is ready to cut the cord on deadweight burdens with the new single “Baggage Claim”.
With an alternative, indie rock edge that echoes with influences like Greta Van Fleet and the Arctic Monkeys, the song opens with distressed vocals, “I met a girl at a pawn shop selling her boyfriend’s clothes”. But the band doesn’t have the time or energy to deal with someone else’s problem, “I don’t want your baggage now ‘cause I just got my shit worked out”.
“For us Baggage Claim is a punky way to remove unwanted baggage in our lives and begin the next era of our band in a way that shows the ‘we don’t care’ attitude we’re trying to portray” the band reflects. With sleek guitars that tear through massive choruses and sneering verses, there is a high level of confidence mixed with apathy that seeps through every note.
If you need an electrified shot of energy, this is the song to get you through the day. It’s a fun and cathartic reminder not to take anything too seriously lest you end up taking on more than you can chew. A solid summer jam that throws caution to the wind as it hurtles unapologetically through the sun without a care in the world.

Charlie Maybee is a dancer, musician, educator, and writer based in Charleston, South Carolina who currently teaches with the Dance Program at the College of Charleston. His primary work as an artist is with his performing collective, Polymath Performance Project, through which he makes interdisciplinary performance art that centers tap dance as the primary medium of expression and research. He also currently plays rhythm guitar for the Charleston-based punk band, Anergy, and releases music as a solo artist under the name Nox Eterna.
