Nick Frater Experiments with 60’s and 70’s Musical Trends in New Album “Aerodrome Motel”

Croydon, England-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Nick Frater, is back with the release of his newest album, “Aerodrome Motel.” This release is Frater’s tenth album since his debut in 2012 with “Throw Money.”

Nick Frater proves himself a veteran in the music industry with his new album. His album “Earworms” was named 2021’s Album of the Year at Powerpopaholic, and his 2019 album “Full Fathom Freight-Train” earned the Album of The Year honor from International Pop Overthrow.

“The last few albums have felt like some big steps forward for my songwriting,” said Frater. “More and more I’ve enjoyed writing purely from the voice. Frequently you’ll find me being that person singing at the bus stop or while walking around the supermarket, recording ideas in to my phone. I get a few funny looks, but I’m convinced this technique is helping capture some catchy tunes.”

“Aerodrome Motel,” a 60’s and 70’s-inspired pop rock album, illustrates the strides Frater has taken in the past year with his songwriting ability, as well as production skills. Melodic and witty, songs like “The Pleasure Is Mine,” “Aerodrome Motel,” and “Dear Modern Times” hark back to various British boy bands and musical trends in the 60’s and 70’s.

“Having started songwriting by trying to find surprising and complicated chords – and I still love those songs! – I also love the idea that a pop song could translate to a Salvation Army band, or panpipe trio, or 8bit chip tune,” continued the songwriter. “Could this song survive being played by kids with a recorder? I never ever want to hear the answer to that question, but I find it helps focus my melody writing!”
