Murray A. Lightburn Speaks To and About His Late Father in “Dumpster Gold”

Singer-songwriter, Murray A. Lightburn, takes a sentimental journey through the relationship he had with his father in his latest single “Dumpster Gold”, the leading single off his upcoming album Once Upon A Time in Montréal.

Written as a biopic of his father’s life, this new song (as well as the entire album) acts as an ode to someone’s life that he didn’t know much about. There are lines of conversations not had, questions unasked, and an excavation of self in relation to family – especially someone with whom he shared a deep love of music. The beautiful guitar melodies and his soft vocals set the stage for something more cinematic as orchestral strings find their way into the composition expanding its grandeur.

Lightburn writes that his father, “was almost a complete stranger to me. I could almost count the conversations we had, and none of them were very meaningful. I had to deduce that our happy moments were listening to Expos games together. I never knew how he felt about my career or the things I’d achieved—all of which I got from him.”

For fans of old school singer-songwriters like Jim Croce, this will be an introspective album full of emotional prose and thoughtful compositions that is not to be missed. Murray A. Lightburn makes “Dumpster Gold” shine brightly despite a dampened disposition.

“Dumpster Gold” is available now on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. His upcoming album Once Upon A Time in Montréal will be released on March 31, 2023.
