The latest EP by Louisville, Kentucky native Molly O’Malley, ‘Nobody Parties (Like Molly)’, is soul-bearing.
Though her inspiration comes from artists like Patrick Stump, Elton John, Tove Lo, Labbe Siffre, and MGMT, her sound is altogether new: a “unique blend of 90’s alternative and sun-soaked dreamgaze”. Her sound strives to emphasize her vulnerability, and she describes herself as “daydream punk for your long drive home”.
Their latest EP is “a relatable collection of music that brings together thoughts, fears, dreams, and experiences in a beautiful catharsis”.
Tracks like ‘die rn’ are gritty, ironic, and tongue in cheek.
you leave
a really bad taste in my mouth
and i swear to god
i feel better about myself when
you’re not around
you don’t
you won’t
think twice about what slides
through your teeth
cause veneers stay sharp
when bones are weak
breaking every brittle down
you make me make me make wanna die right now
The music video for ‘diern’, edited and directed by Alex Zarek, are equally punk, using elements from graphics to lighting to tell a story.
“Recording this EP was a great process from start to finish,” O’Malley said. “It felt amazing to be able to put all of these emotions down on paper, and bring the songs to life through the videos with Alex! Some parts were tough to write about, but it felt so cathartic to let it all out.”
