Michael Sanders’ highly anticipated debut solo album, While I’m Still Young, will offer a taste on February 10 with the drop of its second single “Miss Lady.”
Austin-Texas-based Michael Sanders has released a couple of dreamy singles– two, since 2021, with one being another single off of While I’m Still Young.
“This song was originally written for a romantic love interest I was trying to win over,” Sanders explains. “Our first date was a walk in a cemetery (Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn). The original chorus was much happier and optimistic though. We ended up dating for about a year and it was beautiful, but then for whatever reasons went our separate ways. I rewrote the chorus to be what it is now, a bit darker and ironic. I basically imagined that we might return to the place where it all began (a cemetery) to put it to bed for good.”
“Miss Lady” song is a dreamy, nostalgic fusion of spacey psychedelic music and melodic indie rock. The album displays an overarching feeling of losing one’s youth to the pandemic.
“Somehow time is moving so slowly, but then you look back and remember you were two years younger when this started,” Sanders says.
