Maddox Jones Is ‘Ready To Be Better’

By Jaci Jedrych

In his latest single from his “Believe It” EP (available now on all platforms) Maddox Jones’ latest solo single, “Ready To Be Better”, reminds listeners that there is hope.

British singer-songwriter Maddox Jones made his debut as a solo artist in 2020, after a long and fruitful career of playing in bands and collaborations. His latest track is part of his upcoming debut album, Believe It, in which he explores “becoming himself, overcoming addiction and falling in love.”

“Ready To Be Better” is an upbeat, catchy track with a much deeper meaning— redemption, wonder, and the growth we all experience.

“I remember picking up my guitar New Year’s Eve 2020 and I was in a place where I was pretty much sick of my own s**t. I decided to write a song about exactly where I was at that time. I looked at the time on my phone, took a deep breath and let the words pour out of me. “It’s a quarter past 3 on New Year’s Eve but it could be any day from the past few years I’m skating on ice, fighting my vices yeah.” It’s basically like an extrapolated version of waking up with a hangover saying, “I’m never drinking again.” I felt like I’d let people down and I wanted to say sorry. Two years deep into Covid it feels relevant in a whole new way, I think we’re all ready to be better,” Jones explains.

Fans of RIP Youth or Salt Ashes should check out Maddox Jones. Find “Ready To Be Better” below and on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify, and may it inspire you to check out the remaining five tracks on Jones’ “Believe It” EP.
