Luke Collins Exudes Charisma on Debut Single ‘Tell You’

By Charlie Maybee

Los Angeles-based songwriter Luke Collins is feeling flirtatious with his debut single “Tell You,” which was released on September 24. It’s a song tinged with pure pop abstract featuring funky guitar lines, pulsing synths, a catchy hook, and an irresistible drive that will surely have you in the mood for dancing.

There’s an endearing charm to the vocals and lyrics which makes for easy listening. Even amongst some of the more humorous lines like “you’re just so smart and so chill, independent / I think I’d be friends with your parents,” Collins knows his charisma will get him everywhere as he climbs into our hearts and makes himself comfortable.

The only downside is the short run time of 2 minutes and 36 seconds, but I don’t need to tell you that this song is still banger – just pop it on a chill playlist and prepare to fall in love with it.

As Collins’ first official release, “Tell You” is an astounding and effortlessly cool feat in songwriting. A rare kind of artist who appears fully fledged on his first outing. Combining some the best of pop and R&B influences, he has crafted a sound that is endlessly listenable and full of fun. If you are a fan of bands like Chromeo, this is definitely a track you will want to check out as we wait in anticipation for his next single (or even better, an album)!

“Tell You” is now available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer, and Amazon Music.

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
