Liv Hanna Warns the ‘Rebound’

By Jaci Jedrych

18-year-old Liv Hanna’s new single and accompanying music video, ‘Rebound’ offers a fresh take on the classic pop, soul, and R&B genres.

The New Yorker knows one thing for sure about the music industry- stay true to yourself and your message, which she has done since her 2020 debut, as well as throughout her musical career; she began studying piano at the age of 8, as well as singing with many choirs, including the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York.

“I was born and raised in Long Island, New York. I am an only child. I have always been surrounded by music because of my family. My father plays guitar, piano, and drums and I have been exposed to all kinds of music my entire life,” explains Hanna.

‘Rebound’ tells the story of a young breakup, and the subsequent warnings from the ex-girlfriend to the man’s new rebound girl.

“Lyrically speaking, “Rebound” is truthful but sarcastic, and the salty tone highlights her frustration with her ex-boyfriend and his selfish actions. The ex- girlfriend (me) informs his new conquest that she is merely a ‘rebound love’ from her past relationship, and that she should be careful jumping in so fast with someone only looking to put another notch on their belt,” Hanna said.

The video is shot in Miami, to symbolize the party culture that is so common amongst college students, and leads to these rebound situations.

Fans of James Bay or Lizzy McAlpine should check out Liv Hanna below, or find “Rebound” on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify.
