lil cat Has A Message For F-Boys in Newest Single “Fuck You Up”

Denmark-based band of songwriters, lil cat has released their new, anti-f boy anthem, “Fuck You Up.” This newest pop-rock single follows the release of lil cat’s sophomore EP, “czech new wave,” and precedes their upcoming debut album.

The duo and couple, known together as lil cat, have been writing and producing songs since quarantining together in spring of 2020. Cathrine van Leeuwen and Mads Vadsager are inspired by the relatable desire to fit in and describe their music as “party music for benchwarmers.” Since releasing their two EPs, the songwriters have played SPOT Festival twice, supported Rebecca Lou on her expansive Danish tour, and were featured in multiple Spotify editorial playlists.

lil cat’s newest single, “Fuck You Up,” is a cool pop warning to all lovers: avoid f-boys at all costs. Starting off with warped electric guitar and carried by a catchy melody, the track takes the listener to the “back seat of a Honda” and grounds sense into those being manipulated by guys with less-than-respectable intentions. On a pop scale, the song lands somewhere between Taylor Swift and Lauv; Cathrine’s smooth and pretty vocals compete with the harsh truth of the song.

“‘Fuck You Up’ is about falling for someone that crushes hearts without as much as batting an eyelid,” wrote lil cat. “It’s our way to back up all those who have fallen for a heartbreaker– remind them how they’re not the problem.”

lil cat’s “Fuck You Up” is available to listen now on Spotify. For more exciting new music, visit our Alchemical Multigenre Mixdown playlist on Spotify and YouTube
