Lead Into Gold – Episode 3 – with Annie Elise of Nettwerk Music Group

The Alchemist

Alchemical Records presents Lead Into Gold, a monthly global web series featuring music industry professionals and advocates impacting local and international music communities and creative industries. Guests (who are sometimes artists themselves) from a variety of backgrounds such as management, production, and promotion join the Alchemical Records team of contributors to discuss current industry news and introduce listeners to a day in the life of our guest, as well as ways for indie artists to learn more about the kinds of roles that could contribute to developing their team.

Guests from a variety of backgrounds such as management, production, and promotion join the Alchemical Records team of contributors to discuss what a day in their life looks like as well as current industry news. Together they’ll help indie artists learn more about how different administrative and production roles could aid in the development of their team

Today’s guest, Annie Elise, is a New York City-based electronic artist inspired by her synesthesia [SIN-ISH-THEE-SH-UH]. Often referred to as a “conductor of color,” she is a classically trained violinist and producer who creates music that produces colors she wants to see. Recently, Annie was tapped to join Nettwerk Music Group’s A&R Team to increase representation of women in the industry. Nettwerk Music Group is one of the world’s largest independent record labels, credited with helping to launch the careers of fan favorites, including Sarah McLachlan, Coldplay, and Angus & Julia Stone. We are excited to have Annie join us to discuss her career, women in music, and more.

Foghat Sonic Mojo 2024 Tour. Fillmore Silver Spring, MD March 9

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
