The Alchemist
Love your neighbor could neatly sum up the concept of karma, much as it sums up the concept of the song “Karma” released January 1st by Lauren Nikohl. It is a healthy start on the road to continual empathy beginning with doing good things and good things will come to you, followed by doing good things for the sake of doing good things without expectation of reward. “I am only human creating my own fate” is both a celebration and an admonishment, ethereally sung by Nikohl over a track produced by NYC based Kaysinners with apparent lo-fi influences. The video, directed by L.A. based cinematographer Louis Pei, captures the spirit of the track through an incredible use of lighting and space providing a lot of texture for Minneapolis & Los Angeles based Nikhol to soulfully deliver an incredibly thoughtful and needful message for us to consider as we enter the start another year, as well as our ability to impact our future. In this life or the next.
