Kibi James at The Camel

Atlanta-based garage pop group Kibi James is taking over The Camel this week! Supported by acts such as Jason Jamal, Catie Lausten, and Belly Of The Heart, there’s no denying that this concert is going to be one for the books.
But what about our headlining band? Who are they? What is Kibi James? Well, let’s start with how the name came about one fateful night: all four band members woke up and were recounting their dreams when they realized each of them had seen a sort of sleep paralysis figure in their respective dreams. The name that popped up associated with that figure? You guessed it. Kibi James. They put the name on a flyer for their very first show and it has stuck ever since. Now, you may think with an origin story like that, their music and vibe must be a little dark and creepy right? Well in actuality, it’s the exact opposite. Press describe the members of the band as “cute” and “honest, authentic… sweet and homey, a product of friendship and camaraderie”. In turn, their music combines an array of influences with effortless deadpan, honeyed vocals, and a lovingly scattershot structure that only they could pull off. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience the wonder that is Kibi James!
