Jesse Gold Kicks Off New Era with “Go Go Gadget feat. Marc E. Bassy”

Toronto R&B-pop artist Jesse Gold has returned with his highly anticipated new EP If Not Now, and its lead track “Go Go Gadget” featuring double platinum R&B artist Marc E. Bassy.

“That girl’s not right for me,” Gold sings, furthering his vision of having each song on the EP represent a different phase of a relationship. His smooth voice is easy on the ears as he repeats the title of the song in the chorus, seamlessly blending R&B and pop. Its sexy lyrics describe the playful back and forth of chasing someone. “I wrote ‘Go Go Gadget’ over two years ago and it’s been sitting on the shelf ever since,” Gold says. “Something about it never hit as hard as I wanted it to.”

Bassy’s flow fits right in the track. “Bringing Marc E. Bassy on board changed everything,” Gold continues. “He gave the song the energy I initially envisioned. I’m such a fan of his, and to hear him on this track is surreal. He crushed it and I’m so happy with how this one came out.”

He recently announced his If Not Now Release Tour for 2023 and tickets are on sale now! The EP title has become a life mantra for Gold as he leaps into the newest chapter of his career. “‘If Not Now’ is something I constantly say to myself,” he shares. “It’s a tool I use to help push through anything uncomfortable – asking someone out, breaking up with them, taking a leap of faith in my career or personal life – if not now, when?”

Foghat Sonic Mojo 2024 Tour. Fillmore Silver Spring, MD March 9

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
