
Chicago-based Jennifair’s latest track, “The Humming Song,” is a celebration of love.
Jennifair started making music in 2006, but her solo career didn’t begin until 2019. The same year, she won Amateur night at the Apollo and has opened for legendary artists including DMC, Rah Digga, Roxanne Shante, and Dougie Fresh. To further this passion and learn more about her career, she will graduate from her associate’s program in Fine Arts and Music in May 2023. She writes, records, produces, and mixes all her own music, making her distinct identity uniquely hers. Her influences change daily but include Beyonce, Janelle Monae, Sade, Big Sean, J. Cole, Anita Baker, and Jasmine Sullivan.
“I’m not into facades or trying to put on this image of being something I’m not. I just want to make something people can feel and resonate with,” she explains.
“The Humming Song” was released on February 24. The melody is infectious and almost evokes a lullaby. Inspired by her own experiences, the song is “an ode to the magic of falling in love and the happiness it brings”. The track is a unique blend of R&B, Hip-Hop, and Soul
“It’s hard to [put] my sound in a box because I mix genres together,” she said.
