Jay Kayze Perseveres on a ‘Dollar N a Dream’

By Jaci Jedrych

“All it takes is love; A dollar, dreams, n a team, to lift you up,” sings Jay Kayze in his newest track, ‘Dollar N a Dream’.

Bay Area artist Jay Kayze broke into music by learning the trumpet in just sixth grade. Ever since, he has used music as a creative outlet for his hardships, such as his personal struggles with being raised bi-racial or doubts from family and friends. The rapper, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist boasts the style and swagger of an old school hip-hop artist with the resources and creativity of the new generation.

“The life of an artist is hard enough; but having it paired with doubts from family, friends or even fellow artists can make the mountain that much harder to climb. But Kayze doesn’t seem phased; dedicated to himself and his dream, Kayze is ready for anything as he sets out on the next chapter of his decorated journey.”

‘Dollar N a Dream’ is about the resilience that is necessary to persevere through the obstacles that lie in the way of your dreams. Kayze wanted a raw, real performance, so the track was recorded and delivered in one single take– a decision inspired by one of his favorite artists Jay Z, who is nicknamed “First Take Jay”.

Fans of Childish Gambino, Anderson .Paak, or J. Cole should check out Jay Kayze. Check out “Dolla N a Dream” below and on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture on YouTube.
