The Alchemist
This time of year isn’t to focus on the holidays, but rather a focus on the time we have to be with those we love. Without saying a single word hinting at anything seasonally related, Jahnel Daliya’s “Lucky One” captures every sentiment of this time of year through personal and heartfelt lyrics celebrating one of life’s most precious, and sometimes elusive gifts. Daliya says “Lucky One” is “A simple song about finding love. Love that makes us feel wanted, needed and seen. What a lucky thing to find in this life.” A Northern Virginia resident, Daliya features the talents of contributors from all parts of the DMV, including Andrew Gabor of Pleasure Train on djembe, John Wooten on bass, and James Britton on electric guitar. The track was engineered and mixed by Don Godwin at Tonal Park Studios in Takoma Park, MD. With their powers combined the track has a simple but elegant vintage sound that even emulates the sound of a needle passing over vinyl. The song’s soulful performance will leave its listener longing for the kind of love Daliya is singing about, or to recognize the love they are lucky enough to have already found.
