Indy June Dances with Her ‘Silhouette’ in New Single

By Margaret Adams

Singer-songwriter Indy June has released her new indie pop single “Silhouette.” This is the fourth single since June debuted with “Imposter (Don’t Belong).”

“Silhouette” is a wonderful addition to the indie pop genre; the acoustic guitar and the melody gives the listener a taste of R&B influence, and the deviation from the melody in the bridge gives the song an interesting and beautiful layer. The lyrics are the standout of the song. June clearly exhibits mastery of songwriting in this single, as she sings about the end becoming the new beginning.

You said “this doorway’s just for us”

A place only we could trust

So when the lights were on and I couldn’t see your face

I don’t know why but I changed

“I wrote this song about a first love who walked away from our relationship for another person after promising ‘forever,’” said June about the single. “As time passes, wounds heal, and we learn to survive on our own, even if at one point it felt impossible. To symbolize this in the music video, I lit an old dollhouse on fire- slowly burning the idea of a future with someone, and making room for something new.”

Fans of Matilda Mann, FELIVAND, and Genevieve Stokes should check out Indy Jones’s new single “Silhouette.” The track is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and SoundCloud. Follow our Alchemical Multigenre Mixdown playlist for more great music featured on the site.
