igloo two Release Epic Third Full Length Album, between time

By Daniel Warren Hill

Dan Bradley and Mylie Durham IV of igloo two continue to impress with a consistent stream of interesting and engaging new music rooted in rhythmic exploration and experimental soundscapes. Alchemical had shared “gravel cadillac” and “lucky in lava” on our playlist earlier in the month, but are excited to share in how those two tracks contribute to the additional 10 found on the latest full length album by igloo two, between time, released by Hyattsville, MD record label, Growroom Productions.

Their first album since 2019’s semder: remix and 2018’s silver eyes meets doctor robot, igloo two have a knack for keeping fans involved with their creative process through regular new releases with original tunes, or reimagined versions of their original tunes through collaborative remixes. Officially the band’s third full-length album, between time is a 12 track instrumental journey through hopes, memories, and dreams in an optimistic uptempo execution of the classic sounds of drum, bass, guitar, and piano with just a hint of things otherworldy; there is an air of familiarity, but each track holds a set of unique surprises and unusual twists. If you are paying attention there is a lot to unpack throughout the album, but by nature, it lends itself as great music to listen to while focusing on other important tasks like studying or driving as well as music you could dance to or have as background music for stimulating conversations.

If it sounds like a lot to unpack, there is, and you owe it to yourself to check out between time if you are a fan of music as igloo two probes all various aspects of rhythm & melody, and time & space. We are pretty sure “megafauna,” for example, was in an episode of The X-Files, or maybe in our favorite video game as we explored virtual worlds. It creates a spirited sounding vibe with the marimba but there is also a mysterious tension that builds throughout the track. What do you imagine when you listen? Drop us a comment below and find more igloo two wherever you enjoy music, especially if that happens to be Bandcamp. Otherwise, you can find this and more on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Playlist on Spotify.
