Released via Neurodisc Records/Global Heist Recordings in February, Hasten Mercy once again flexes his musical skills in his new track, ‘You Don’t Leave Me.’ With understated drums and bass and a minimalist approach to melody, Hasten Mercy broaches the sensitive subject of complex relationships (as if there were any other kinds).
You say you love me, but you don’t leave me / You say you love me, but you don’t leave me / There must be some kind of way you need me / Cuz You say you love me, but you don’t leave me
Canadian-born and New Jersey-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Michael Baker aka Hasten Mercy, released his self-titled EP in 2021, consistently introducing and blending genres like Trap and R&B to produce something musically and lyrically stimulating and soulful. His latest single, “Don’t Leave Me,” is equally as powerful. The video’s simple display of the push and pull between a couple on-screen only reinforces the struggle you can hear in the chorus’ inner dialogue.
Hasten Mercy’s cinematic and symphonic music collection is available on all major platforms. Check out “Don’t Leave Me” below or find it on the Alchemical Records playlist on Spotify and YouTube. Be sure to stick around for more great music from Hasten Mercy, which is sure to come.
