Gus Benson Gazes at the Moon with ‘Luna’

By Jaci Jedrych

Gus Benson’s latest track, ‘Luna’, was inspired by disappointment but shows hope.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based 20-year-old artist has only released three tracks but has already been met with success. The alternative, soft rock artist has been playlisted dozens of times, and already boasts upwards of a thousand listeners on Spotify.

“I was inspired to write this song when I missed the partial lunar eclipse last November because of clouds. I stayed up all night to watch the eclipse, and when it came time at 4 am to see it, I saw nothing but haze in the sky. So I sat down, defeated, and wrote a song. Although I didn’t get to see the eclipse, at least I got a song out of the experience,” says Benson on the inspiration for the song.

The sound is big and warm, with good, sunny vibes. The beat is catchy and classic, without overriding the vocals and melodies. Benson self-produced the track, which also features album art made by his friend.

Fans of Tom Misch, John Mayer, or Rejjie Snow should check out this track or find it on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify.
