Orange County based reggae musician, Gaba Groove Music, has released a brand-new single “She Wan My Love” along with a fun, cute new music video alongside it. Featuring his adorable daughter, Skylie, this is clearly a song that leans into the familial love.
The video records a fun day of beach activities as the two play in the sand, drive around in the car, and frolic around a playground on a cloudless and perfectly sunny day. It’s a very heartwarming collage which, while simple in premise, leaves you with a warm, peaceful feeling. Pure love distilled down to the simple joys in life, all of which they do together hand-in-hand.
Musically, this is reggae at its most recognizable. The groove lays back and kicks its feet up and Gaba Groove’s voice melts like butter over top of it. There’s no sense of confrontation or resistance, just good summer vibes all around as the guitar plucks without a care and sparse synthesizers fill in some ambience to gently shift the tide. If you need a break from the utter chaos that is the state of our current world, then this music video has arrived just in time to give it to you. Let it remind you of the good things in the world, even just for a moment.

Charlie Maybee is a dancer, musician, educator, and writer based in Charleston, South Carolina who currently teaches with the Dance Program at the College of Charleston. His primary work as an artist is with his performing collective, Polymath Performance Project, through which he makes interdisciplinary performance art that centers tap dance as the primary medium of expression and research. He also currently plays rhythm guitar for the Charleston-based punk band, Anergy, and releases music as a solo artist under the name Nox Eterna.
