With an eclectic mash up of punk, grunge, surf, and folk influences, FLKL checks off a lot of boxes in ‘Special,’ one of two singles from their forthcoming album Fistful, available on March 4, 2023. ‘Special’ takes us out of our element and into exotic locations and chill mellow vibes whereas ‘This Body Is A Dime’ Novel highlights the band’s heavier influences.
Catie Lausten’s latest single, ‘CPR’ is a an acoustic driven indie dream pop track oozing with character and karisma. Alongside Cole Roberts (lead guitar), Spencer Berry (bass), Stephan LaRue (drums), Catie Lausten’s sound cuts through the mix with a solidly crafted song that is easily accessible for fans of multiple genres.
You may have been fortunate enough to experience The Mitras performing alongside Keep Your Secrets earlier this month at DC 9. If not, there’s still time to ride the high of the band’s latest single, “Caroline” in RVA on March 4th. The track has a real swing to it with feels in the folk rock and indie rock veins. It’s song that is perhaps more of a dance number than a head banger and may require your dancing shoes.
