February Tells You to ‘Stick Around’

By Margaret Adams

From his new two-track EP, Candy, February has released his new song, “Stick Around.” This is the Indiana native’s first release since his 2021 album, Ghosts of Lovers and Hollywood Dreams

“Stick Around” is an exciting, genre-bending track that continues to get better with each listen. The electric guitar take a front seat, as the moveable beats start the song off and end it as well; the rhythm is reminiscent of 24kGoldn’s single, “CITY OF ANGELS.” February’s lyricism shines on this track, as the song illustrates how hard it might be to let go of a relationship, or even some old, unhealthy habits.

“From going from focusing on the future and bettering yourself to dwelling in the past and making up excuses to make yourself feel better, I feel like a lot of people go through stuff like this,” said the 18-year-old artist. “Based off what society is telling us to do and to constantly move on is hard, there are some things that aren’t easy to let go of.”

Fans of Dominic Fike, Omar Apollo, and Kevin Abstract should check out February’s new single.

“Stick Around” is available on major streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube. Follow our Alchemical Weekly Spotify Playlist for more great music featured on the site.

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
