Estella Dawn is bringing an abundance of talent and energy to the modern pop scene, and her eighth release of 2022, “Winners”, is no exception.
This unique, soulful song features sultry bass and powerful keys that build the track’s magnitude, along with Dawn’s explosive vocals. “Winners” exhibits Dawn’s vocal range, technique, and ability (rasp and growling) – even the background vocals – and it is evident how much thought was put into the details that make this track a hit.
Dawn reflects on what she has had to go through on her independent music journey so far, reassuring herself that she doesn’t have to put herself through anything she doesn’t want to. “Y’all are so demanding but the choice is mine / What’s the harm in a little foul play? / Winners are winners at the end of the day / I bat for me myself and I / So if you’re counting on me / Then that’s your mistake,” she sings.
She refers to “Winners” as “a ‘put your oxygen mask on before helping others’ song. Often the most successful people are the ones who choose to put themselves and their needs first; it’s okay to embrace that selfish energy sometimes!” Dawn says.
This song can motivate anyone who is feeling like they want to give up – “My momma didn’t raise no quitter / I’m a winner baby”.
Dawn is bold and confident, and this singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist from New Zealand is sure to rise to the top soon.
