Speak Easy Circus Releases Funky Anti-Misogyny Anthem

The Alchemist

Speak Easy Circus are an experimental indie funk posse from the East End of Glasgow. Their chaotic
crescendos and eclectic overtures, a celebration of the strange and the new, are a “circus” of tongue in cheek attitude and unpredictability. Speak Easy Circus are a breath of fresh air for everyone into never-
the-same-way-twice musical curiosity and funky grooves. And their punk sensibility and aesthetic reminds me of classic DC punk musicians such as Bad Brains and Minor Threat.

Their most recent single, ‘Lions Should Hunt,’ is an anti-misogyny anthem. Frontman Jack Avison says it was written after seeing “yet another advert featuring an attractive woman seductively selling a product, and feeling pissed off that so many people bought into this idea of what a man should want and should be.” Add a few funky beats and you’ve got a work of art. Check out the formidable “Lions Should Hunt” below.
