dxadpoxt Finds More of Himself in “Lone Traveller”

By Daniel Warren Hill

Canadian and Conscious Hip-Hop producer and rapper dxadpoxt has just released his first single of 2022, “Lone Traveller.” “Lone Traveller” from dxadpoxt’s forthcoming EP, promises to be the artist’s move to a more cerebral, philosophical sound. dxadpoxt’s debut single in 2019, “Eyes Wide Shut” and subsequent releases set a particular tone around the complexities of love. Releases later that year though, such as “Angels&Demons” and “Fuck Money” already began to hint at the additional complexities he would be further inspired to hash out through carefully crafted lyrics whose foundations are cemented in melodically driven beats.

For fans of Logic, Mac Miller, and Westside Gunn, “Lone Traveller” is a jazzy hip-hop track winding through a personal journey whereupon we find ourselves, and in doing so find we are all the the “Lone Traveller.” dxadpoxt invites us to witness his own journey while bringing to mind our own experiences of self-acknowledgment and self-doubt, saying, “All great stories have a hero and a villain. In our lives, we are both” Check out the track below, and on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture on Spotify for this and more great music on the site.

Foghat’s Roger Earl Refuses to Slow His Ride

By this point in his life, Foghat founding drummer Roger Earl has visited quite a few doctors. But what may be surprising is that the percussionist, 77, is quick to point out that many of the medical professionals who have worked on him also enjoy rocking out.

“Nearly all the doctors and surgeons I know, they all play something: trumpet, sax, violin, guitar,” Earl said recently. “There’s not too many drummers that are surgeons, there’s probably a good reason for that!”

Earl half-jokingly invites his surgeon-rockers to join him and the other members of Foghat onstage at the Fillmore in Silver Spring March 9, where they will be headlining the Rock and Roll for Children Foundation benefit for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Earl, the only original member of Foghat still in the band, will be banging the skins behind guitarist Bryan Bassett and other members Scott Holt and Rodney O’Quinn. “Slow Ride,” the band’s 1975 megahit, is all but assured to be on the setlist, along with tunes from Foghat’s most recent record, “Sonic Mojo.”
