Seventeen-year-old Elizabeth Lane based out of Alexandria, Virginia has vulnerably opened up about love in her song, “Free,” released on Dec. 2 via Baffin Records. This new single showcases her passionate songwriting and singing skills, as she is among the region’s most promising upcoming artists.
This track dives into the freedom relationships can give you, allowing you to be your true self when you’re with the right person. We are introduced to Lane’s narrative about a sweet type of love: “All I wanna be is his … I found what I need in him”. Her lyrics are relatable and close to the heart. “I treasure all the times that he is by my side / All this time we let pass us by, now it’s our turn to shine,” she sings, backed by effective guitar lines interwoven with synths and electronic percussion elements that build throughout.
Lane has been releasing music since 2021, which saw the release of her debut EP Summer Passed with its standout single “Mediocre at Best”. Make sure to check out her music if you’re a fan of artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Phoebe Bridgers, or Tate McRae. A regular at Washington D.C. venues, she hopes to build a strong local following throughout her journey into the pop music world.
