D.C. based pop rock four-piece Dear Daria released their debut single, “Best Life,” earlier this summer.

Those familiar with the DMV music scene may recognize Maryjo Mattea, the name of the lead vocalist of Dear Daria, and the moniker under which the group has released dozens of tracks since 2018. They describe their members as “a goth kid, an indie rocker, a progressive metal-head, and a Beatlemaniac,” all blending their expertise to create their quirky pop-rock sound.

Their single “Best Life” is a quintessential summer song, full of positive messages and light melodies. The mix of backgrounds creates a diverse song, with all genres represented. They call their single a “celebration of friendship and a fun and feisty ode to living in the moment, a quintessential ‘song of summer.’”

Fans of Paramore or The Donnas should check out Dear Daria’s music. Their diversity of sound, along with uplifting messages, would appeal to any pop rock fans.
