Black Dog Prowl

Genre:  Hard Rock

Recommended if you like: Soundgarden, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Queens of the Stone Age

Black Dog Prowl is considered one of DC’s hardest hitting rock bands. The four-piece showcases original material ranging from the slow, down-tuned to a fast-paced kick in the teeth. The band has built their reputation on a powerful live show, playing and headlining notable area venues over the past decade and sharing the stage with renowned acts like Steel PantherCandleboxThe Parlor MobThe Answer, and A Thousand Horses. In 2016, the band recorded and released the EP Have a Little, featuring the single “Shame,” and marking the band’s first new release since the 2013 single, “No Robots,” and their fourth studio effort. In March 2017, as the band embarked on a tour through Mexico, they also released The Voice Memo Bootlegs, an EP compilation of tracks from the band’s live and acoustic sets, including the debut of the unreleased track “Salt the Earth,” set to be released in Summer 2018.

Recommended if you like: Modest Mouse, Muse, Portugal. The man, Cage the Elephant, Cold War Kids

Kid Brother is an independent band from Northern Virginia, founded when the celestial space gods called upon Richard, Dylan, Lindsey, Sam, and Christian to go forth and create a band in the spring of the year of our lords, 2016. Focused on originality and genuine lyricism, Kid Brother fuses together elements from rock and roll, indie, folk, and blues to create a sound that is their own.

Fellowcraft

Genre:  Rock/Blues/Grunge

Recommended if you like: Foo Fighters, Jet, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, The Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Fellowcraft is an original grunge-blues trio from DC whose sound has been described as Alice in Chains meets the Black Keys. All three members favor a minimalistic approach to rock and roll that allows each instrument to be featured prominently. They released their debut EP in March of 2015 and followed it with their first full-length record Get Up Young Phoenix on New Year’s Day in 2016. Their 3rd release Three is due out in the summer 2018.

Pebble to Pearl

Genre:  R&B/Funk/Pop

Recommended if you like: A mix of Prince, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Tina Turner

Pebble to Pearl (P2P) creates a unique blend of funk, rock, fierce and powerful blues fused and delivered with soulful grooves and incomparable vocals. They display a tapestry of sound that will truly captivate, mesmerize, and send chills down your spine, while undeniably keeping you entertained and dancing. Their self-entitled EP debuted in March 2018, and holds no bounds in blending a combination of funky blues rock with hard hitting and flawless vocals. If you haven’t seen them in action, you are missing a key note in the chromatic scale. They throw in everything but the kitchen sink into their show and leave a lasting impression and the need for wanting more.

Here’s the deets

This is our favorite annual event, bringing five of DC’s incredible local bands from various genres together for one night of amazing music — in one of the area’s best local music venues!

  • Five Bands Ready to Rock You – No matter the music style, these bands are going to make you true believers!
  • It’s Local – Just like the bands, the people you meet at this show will all be local, and you’ll definitely see them again at other shows around town or at these bands’ shows. Come meet your neighbors, make new friends, and celebrate local music!
  • Supports “Girls Rock! DC” – A portion of the proceeds will go to support this local music education organization for girls that does great work.  Do you know about this incredible organization?
  • There’s a Hashtag, a Photobooth and Giveaways! – We have a photo booth! We love seeing and sharing your photos on the big screen at the event and online, so we’ll have a slideshow going to share these great photos all night. Favorite photos get free giveaways!
  • And Even More Surprises! – In between the acts we’re planning on having a DJ from Girls Rock! DC spinning tunes, a local singer-songwriter talent contest, and more.
  • Keep Up! Follow @dcmusicrocks on TwitterFacebook and Instagram for more details as this awesome event comes together!
