Darlin’ Brando Wants to Stay Put in “Don’t Make Me Move (Again)”

By Charlie Maybee

Los Angeles based folk rock musician, Darlin’ Brando, gets reflective with his new single “Don’t Make Me Move (Again).

Chronicling the saga of a person who followed their lover from place to place, there is a deep loneliness and yearning to settle down in one place for a while, but Brando’s partner seems committed to staying on the move. “I really like it here” he sings before the titular line of the chorus.

The lyrics note that his band, his community, and his significant other all in one place, and the thought of giving that up again seems to be too much. “Let’s put some roots down / Don’t make me leave another easy town” he pleads in earnest. A final desperate pitch to try and keep all the important pieces of his life tethered close to him rooted in the fear of letting go of something precious. It seems that he may need to make another shift soon, but perhaps one where he stays and lets the rolling stone go.

“Don’t Make Me Move (Again) speaks to the struggle in a relationship between a guy who desperately wants to settle down after a series of moves and his partner who is endlessly unhappy and nomadic in nature” Darlin’ Brando writes, “She clearly has her weaknesses, but the listener might start to wonder if he does as well”.

“Don’t Make Me Move (Again)” are available on major streaming platforms like SoundCloud, BandCamp, Spotify, and Apple Music. Find this and more great music on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture playlist on Spotify.
