Daniel Bromander Embraces Redemption in Anthemic New Single “Still Standing”

By Margaret Adams

Swedish singer-songwriter Daniel Bromander has released his next single “Still Standing,” a funk-filled, redemptive anthem about reclaiming your life. With his own experience with oppression and extreme hardship, Bromander celebrates his freedom and triumph in the face of adversity.

With James Brown as a reference during production, the funky retro-soul anthem takes a powerful stand; utilizing Bromander’s strong vocal abilities, impactful lyrics, and pop-inspired guitar helped the production achieve the creation of an incredibly successful retro-sounding but pop track. Ukrainian producer Max Tovstyi, who also knows a little something about resilience, helped add to the redemptive nature of the single.

“Guitars and bass are recorded by Max Tovstyi, a professional musician in Ukraine who recently had to leave his studio and his life in Kyiv as the Russians invaded…,” said Bromander. “I found him looking for work in a Facebook group for musicians. I hired him and I’m so glad we could help each other out. I also feel his story adds another layer to what this song is all about.”

“Still Standing” was inspired by Bromander’s experience escaping from a cult he got involved in as a teenager: “In my late teens I got involved in a cult and I got out 17 years later,” said Bromander. “This group would turn out to become one of the most notorious cults in Sweden. 4 pastors were convicted in court. One for murder.”

“This song is a slap in the face to everyone and everything in life, that tries to get you down,” commented the writer. “It’s also a salutation to all those who simply refuse to give up… It took 17 years of my life. Now I’m taking everything back!”

Fans of James Brown, Jamiroquai, and The Commitments should listen to Daniel Bromanders new single “Still Standing,” available on your favorite streaming platform. Listen to this song and other great music on the Alchemical Records Multigenre Mixture on Spotify.
