D.C. Rapper ARIA Is Caught in His Feelings with ‘Bad Liar’

By Charlie Maybee

This Alchemical Records article is read by the author to provide a multimedia experience for our audience while increasing the accessibility of our content to persons with hearing loss, low vision, dyslexia, physical or motor disabilities, or are on the autism spectrum.

D.C.-based rapper, ARIA, is caught in his feelings with the new single “Bad Liar.” Against a chill backbeat, he walks us through his struggle to ditch a past lover who can’t take the hint that she is no longer wanted. A myriad of excuses sprawl through the lyrics as he attempts to deceive her into thinking that he has a new partner, or that she has the wrong number altogether. Unfortunately for him, neither were able to quell her feelings.

As these rhythmic deceptions disappear along with the beat, we are left with the haunting, yet gentle ambience of the synth and guitar work – an inference to the lingering feelings in the room. Bad liar or not, it’s not hard to see how this nameless woman could be obsessed. This is a deceptively simple track with well-crafted rhymes and an alluring moodiness. When all is said and done, ARIA somehow manages to make himself even more appealing through his emotional detachment both lyrically and melodically. A vicious cycle that keeps reeling us, and the nameless woman, back in time and time again.

“Bad Liar” is available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and SoundCloud. Learn more about ARIA by checking out previous Alchemical Records coverage below:
