Award-winning, classically trained songstress, pianist, and violinist Stephanie Mathias was born to be an artist. Composing music since age 3, and winning her first songwriting competition at age 10, she uses her music as a platform to inspire herself and others to believe in the untapped potential they carry inside. Her latest single “Blue Diamond Light,” a lush, dreamy electro-pop track, is both cathartic and healing – the type of song that could only emerge from a period of loss and grief.
“I want people to know that it’s okay to be broken sometimes,” she explains. “Each of us can overcome
our trials by allowing anger and sadness to be expressed as part of the process of letting go. Then we can begin drawing from divine help, and recognize that our own light is more powerful than anything
out there or anything we are going through.”
For Stephanie, this period of brokenness involved major crises: a tragic miscarriage, an awful bout of COVID-19, and mental health challenges. “Blue Diamond Light” takes listeners on a journey through this period of darkness, but it doesn’t abandon them there. It brings them out to the other side stronger and more empowered than ever.
“All this darkness has led me to a light that has been inside this whole time,” she sings with her signature expressive vocals, supported by rich, layered instrumentation, atmospheric electric guitars,
and catchy, upbeat drums. The “angels” referenced throughout the song are a touching tribute to Stephanie’s late mother and other luminaries who have transitioned to the spirit world.
The end result is a beautiful, inspired song with a hint of uplifting melancholy, a reminder of the
powerhouse writer behind the growing body of work that continues to win over audiences. Stephanie’s
inner light, touching all she encounters, is equally distinct and mesmerizing. Her new single offers a message that couldn’t be more fitting than during these extraordinary times in our world: light always overcomes darkness. And Stephanie Mathias’ “Blue Diamond Light” is guiding us there.
