Circaetus Debuts Into Hard Rock Scene With “Boar”

By Jaci Jedrych

The rich DMV hard rock scene recently became even richer with the release of “Boar,” Circaetus’ first EP. Drawing inspiration from genres spanning hard rock to classical, Circaetus combines the talents of D.C.-based Mateo Sanchez, Daniel Rastatter, and Arturo Gonzales.

The trio started playing music together in 2019, after guitarist and lead vocalist Sanchez and bassist Rastatter discovered drummer Gonzales through social media. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic quarantine, they wrote the original music featured on “Boar.” The EP touches on themes of childhood, literature, and animals. The delicate themes and light singing juxtapose the deft guitar, heavy bass, and intense drums.

Fans of rock classics like Metallica or Led Zeppelin, as well as newer metal groups like Three Days Grace or Pierce The Veil should check out Circaetus.

The swift and elaborate backing is energetic and brings the listener into their world, and their unique blend of influences on their hard rock makes them stand out among the crowd.
